Coming Soon – Inter-club Play on Sundays

Published by neptuneadmin on January 26th, 2012

Mike Reid, the Provincial Team coach, is working together with the clubs to create an inter-club league for the months of February, March and the first part of April. The league will have 12U (co-ed), 14U (co-ed) and 18U (boys and girls) divisions. All games will be 5-on-5. Neptunes athletes will play against Bushido teams, and in the case of the 18U division, they will also compete against teams from Selkirk. It’ll be a great chance for our athletes to have some fun and develop individual skills as well as basic team strategy.

More details will follow soon, but here are some important points to note as the start date for the league draws nearer:

  • There will be a small additional per-athlete fee for participation in the league; Mike is still working out a budget for pool space, lifeguards and referees.
  • Neptunes will be entering two 12U teams, two 14U teams, and an 18U girls team (which the 16U girls will play on).
  • Pool space for the league has been booked on the following dates:
    • Sunday, February 5th (noon – 5 pm)
    • Saturday, February 25th (noon – 3 pm)
    • Sunday, February 26th (noon – 5 pm)
    • Sunday, March 4th (noon – 5 pm)
    • Saturday, April 7th (noon – 3 pm)
    • Sunday, April 8th (noon – 5 pm)
  • Games for a given team may be scheduled at any point during this scheduled pool space – needing to miss a game here and there is not a reason to say “no” to the league; we’ll have enough kids for subs on each team
  • On Saturdays we have enough space to have two games going on at once, while on Sundays there will only be one game at a time.
  • Since there is limited pool space, and only there will be some dates when a given team does not play at all.
  • 14U, 16U and 18U athletes will still have regular Neptunes practice on Saturday afternoons that we play league games; depending on what the final schedule looks like, we may shorten practice if all participants play earlier in the afternoon. 12U practices may be impacted by league games; conflicts will be dealt with on a week-by-week basis.

We’re Having a Blast in the Pool

Published by neptuneadmin on January 8th, 2012

Have you ever noticed when you give a child a ball, the games begin?

A ball has the power to make swimming fun, even effortless.  The child becomes engaged in the goal – the pursuit, the team effort and is unaware of the physical and mental skills he or she is developing.Besides learning basic water polo skills, parents will be amazed at the overall improvement in swimming and general endurance. Water Polo is a great year-round cross training activity that transfers to many other sports.

Check out our beginner programs and join us in the pool!
